August - September 2006
28th September Kestrel hunting over garden.
26th September Pair of hen harriers seen frequently from road east of village. Report of whales in bay on north coast during summer. Barn owls very active around Mingary castle.
7th September Stags sparring in Braehouse park, the majority have shed their velvet and are now in hard horn. Great Northern Divers close to shore.
6th September Very large dog otter and 3 eagles on coast. Pair of sparrowhawks now regularly seen from road between Braehouse and Achatenny, likely to be the same ones which are hunting by Swordle.
30th August 14 Ravens perching on deer-fence at roadside on north coast. 3 kestrels playing around castle walls.
29th August
3 buzzards regularly feeding and calling over low-ground fields near castle.
Birds forming large flocks, including 28 goldfinches visiting the garden.
